    A state of the art cargo port comprising coal, oil and gas terminals is to be built on the east shore of the island of Sakhalin. The concession agreement was signed by RF Premier Mikhail Mishustin, the Government press office informs.

    The new port capable of handling vessels up to 80,000 dwt will cost more than 35.9 bn rubles ($473.4 mn)/ Budget allocations for infrastructure development will make 3.96 bn rubles ($52.2 mn).

    The project envisages building a coal terminal for up to 5 mn tons per annum, an oil terminal for up to 5.5 mn tons per annum, and a condensed gas terminal for up to 2.8 mn tons per annum.

    There will be also a bunkering facility and a support base in the port.

    The concession agreement provides for the investor to operate the port for 49 years. The port is to be put into operation no later than 6.5 years since the agreement was signed.
