According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Caspian basin ports in September 2020 surged by 60.2% year-on-year. Export grew by 77.3%, and import by 84%. Cabotage, on the contrary, was down 35.7%.
The share of the Caspian basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in September 2020 amounted to 0.1%.
Laden container throughput in the Caspian was up 38.5%. Reefer containers were non-existent in September. Exports made 69.3% of all the laden containers, imports accounted for 21.8%, and cabotage for 8.9% of the total.
Empty container traffic surged 8.6-fold.
The port of Olya accounted for 50% of the aggregate container throughput via the Caspian basin ports in September. Astrakhan handled the other 50%.
