Russia and Belarus are discussing redirecting Belarussian oil products export to Russian North-West ports from the Baltics. According to RF energy minister Alexander Novak, the two countries are negotiating on the subject.
‘Belarus remains Russia’s strategic partner in the energy sector. Belarus acquires some 20 bn cbm of gas and 18 mn tons of oil and is a major transit country with 40 bn cbm pf hgas and 40 mn tons of oil transiting its territory. At present, we are engaged in a dialogue discussing establishing common energy markets for oil, gas and electric power,’ the press office of the RF Minister of energy quotes A.Novak as saying.
According to the minister, redirecting some 4-6 mn tons of energy cargoes per annum is being discussed. ‘If an agreement is reached, Russian economic operators will be able to profit.’
