Starting TOC with a port of Rotterdam tour the delegates were surprised to visit new Maasvlakte terminals under construction. After amazing sights of APMT and RWG we passed on to Euromax (started 2010) and finished with ECT Delta. How these AGVs run alone is still inspiring. In 2012, the three ECT terminals handled some 8 mio TEU. And then surprise, in the ECT presentation the Moscow trend was focused out several times – we now calculate feeder (maritime) or hinterland (land) costs to deliver boxes to Russia – it depends on where exactly in Moscow you are. ECT launched a block train to Moscow just recently.
The tour bus delegates were also very inspired about the Russian market, from Chinese big bosses to European bankers.
At the TOC opening just now, Ben Vree, APM Terminals Europe Region CEO, said Russia has a great potential. Our colleagues from Rotterdam continued the trend with bilateral Russian Dutch year event plans. No high hopes, Russia is a final import destination and oil and gas exporter, a power supplier.
We continue networking and communicating with the global container industry top players and decision makers for two more days. The meeting point is the only Russian booth – SOLVO company. See you around.
